Francesca is experienced in writing poetry for and with children. She works in schools, libraries, museums, even outdoors! She undertakes day visits to schools, as well as longer projects, and can write to order. Francesca writes for composer Mervyn Burtch, their most successful collaboration being 'The First Dragon', a piece for narrator and orchestra that has received many performances. In collaboration with Ty Cerdd and WCMD, it has had performances in WMC, the North Wales International Music Festival in 2009, and the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea.
She has also been a part of songwriting projects for Arts Active based at St David’s Hall, most recently Tidy! in September 2010. Francesca's song cycle 'This is Our Land', written for composer Chris Petrie, will be sung by a choir of 400 children at the Children's Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in November 2010. Francesca is delighted to have worked with many Writing Squads. As well as the titles listed below, Francesca has contributed poems to several WJEC publications in the Genre Shifts at KS2 series.
