DAVIES, JAMES A.

A critic, born in Llandeilo, Dr James A. Davies grew up in Tonyrefail, Tonypandy and Pontypool. He has been Visiting Professor at Baylor University, Texas, Mellon Research Fellow at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Centre, University of Texas at Austin and was for many years Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Wales, Swansea. He has published extensively on Victorian literature and on Welsh writing in English. In 1994, James co-edited a special edition of The Swansea Review on 'Writing Region and Nation' with Glyn Pursglove. He is Co-Vice President of The Dylan Thomas Society, an Honorary Fellow at the Centre for Research into the English Language and Literature of Wales at Swansea and a Fellow of Academi.
