Poet, tutor and researcher. Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, David moved to Blaenafon in 1982. He studied at UWCN Caerleon, first the Access Diploma in Labour and Trade Union Studies and then BA Honours in History and Religious Philosophy, graduating with a 1st class degree. David lectured in Modern History including trans–Atlantic slavery, 19th century imperialism, race and ethnicity in Britain and community studies. He first presented a historical documentary, 'Cutmeloose' about Wales and transatlantic slavery in 1998, later researching 'The History of the Labour Party in Wales'. David recently researched a 3-part series for S4C called 'Gwalia Ddu' [Black Wales], focusing on the history of Black people in Wales.
David has written and performed conscious dub poetry nationally and internationally and has presented work on various radio stations. He has been published in Inspirations from Wales and in New Welsh Review. He has also released work on 'In Fear of a Red Planet', a compilation CD for the Morning Star.
