OSMOND, OSI RHYS

Osi Rhys OsmondOsi Rhys Osmond is the Director of Under Milk Wood – Laugharne Festival Platers 2006. Originally from Wattstown in the Rhondda Valley, he now lives at Llansteffan. From 1959–65 he studied painting at Newport and Cardiff Colleges of Art and has exhibited art around the world. 

Osi also works as a teacher and writer, publishing in Planet magazine amongst others and in 2005 contributed to the volume Imagining the Imagination: The Word and the Visual Image in Wales, published by Corner Press. He is the author of a recent monograph of the Polish painter, Joseph Herman, published by The Institute of Welsh Affairs.

He broadcasts on art and culture on radio and television and has recently completed a series of programmes on painting in Wales, aired on S4C in summer 2006. Osi lectures in painting, drawing and history of art at Swansea Institute and in History of Art for the University of Central Iowa, at Trinity College Carmarthen.
