VELLA-BONAVITA, HELEN
Helen Vella Bonavita is the Head of the Department of English at the University of Wales, Lampeter. Her main research interest is early modern literature, with an emphasis on drama, translations and issues of legitimacy, nationality and identity. She has written on issues relating to the 1565 siege of Malta and has a strong interest in representations of Ottoman figures within sixteenth and seventeenth century English writing. Her work has been published in numerous periodicals including The Year’s Work in English Studies, Sixteenth Century Journal, Parergon and Trivium. Helen’s current research is in the field of liminal and excluded figures within early modern drama. She is the Deputy Director of the University of Wales, Lampeter Research Institute of Literature and Culture and has spoken at many conferences, symposia and lecture/seminar series including, most recently, the Renaissance English Text Society Open Business Meeting,
