JONES, MARIANNE
Marianne grew up on Ynys Môn. After graduating from university she taught English at a Japanese university, where she learned Japanese and helped to translate Contemporary Japanese Literature (1972). Marianne then taught English in Canada before returning to Britain to teach English as a second language, complete a second MA and work in the post of Project Manager of the Japanese in Schools programme for the Welsh Office. After this she became Co-ordinator of the Japanese Resources Centre for Derbyshire County Council.
Now living on Ynys Môn with her husband, an environmental campaigner, she has taught Japanese and Creative Writing locally and is currently writing poetry and short stories. Marianne has recently published two volumes of poetry with Cinnamon Press. She is a Member of The Welsh Academy.
