Sharon Tyers is a retired English Teacher and the author of Linen and Rooks, a novel set in Denbigh, North Wales where she lives. She has also written a memoir called The Wrong Socks which is in honour of her mother who was a sock linker in Leicester. Articles have been published on this work by Little Toller Books/The Clearing, the University of Leicester and Elsewhere European Journal and she is the winner of a scholarship at the Leopardi Writing Conference in Italy for excellence in non fiction writing.
She is currently working on a retelling of Thomas Hardy’s The Mayor of Casterbridge called After the Fair. Sharon gives talks on creative writing at libraries, bookshops and schools and is passionate about encouraging young people to read and write more.
