Based in rural Flintshire, Sonia is a freelance writer whose work draws predominantly on the natural landscapes and folklore of North Wales, though her writing ranges across diverse subjects, from a sculptor, artisan food and drink producers to a Male Voice Choir.

Her poetry appeared in the celebratory 100th edition of Acumen Literary Magazine, and in 2020 she was awarded first prize at a local Eisteddfod for her Welsh language poem, Taith Afon Dyfrdwy (Journey of the River Dee). The poem was subsequently adopted by Natural Resources Wales for use across their social media platforms, and will feature in a Heritage Book currently being produced by the organisation.

As a regular contributor to North Wales Magazine, Sonia has also been featured in Welsh Country Magazine and Shire Magazine and has contributed work to Flintshire Tourism Association.

When interviewing subjects for her articles, she takes great care to listen attentively, drawing on her empathy and listening skills to ensure that the true voice and character of each subject is faithfully captured on the page. She is currently working on a YA book (mentored by award-winning author and illustrator, Kate Rolfe) based on the Welsh River Dee.
