Patricia Sumner is a poet, children’s author and editor living in north-east Wales. Her recent works include a collection of eco poetry ‘I Am Nature: Environmental Poetry’ co-written with three other North Wales poets (Veneficia Publications, 2025), a children’s novel ‘The Globbatrotter’ (Ginger Fyre Press, 2024), and a collection of poems and readings ‘The Promise of Dawn: Rites of Passage for All Beliefs’ (Veneficia Publications, 2022).
Pat was commissioned by Booktrust Cymru to create a bilingual rhyme for ‘Big Welsh Rhyme Time 2026’. Her work was ‘highly commended’ (coming joint 2nd) in the St Mary’s Arts Festival Poetry Competition, Stafford in 2026. She won the Ajuda Foundation Creative Writing Competition in 2025, and her work has been published and performed in Prole, Borderlines, The Cannon’s Mouth, Between Rivers, Poetry Worth Hearing, Spoken Label, Theatr Clwyd, Circl8 Radio, and The Dirigible Balloon. She also teaches creative writing to adults.
Pat has performed at the Gŵyl Rhuthun Festival, the Llangollen Fringe Festival, the Pensychnant Literary Festival, and the Curious Minds Literary Festival for children in Worcester.
